SVolt Launches Semi-Solid Battery B-Sample with Breakthrough Manufacturing Technology

SVolt Energy Technology officially unveiled the B-sample of its semi-solid battery in Wuxi on September 16. The battery incorporates a world-leading "electrolyte thermal composite transfer printing process," delivering the industry's most cost-effective and scalable semi-solid solution without compromising performance, safety, or energy density.
By leveraging its proprietary electrolyte thermal composite transfer printing technology, SVolt has resolved key challenges in the industrialization of semi-solid batteries. This innovative method enables highly efficient electrolyte coating transfer, boosting transfer rates from approximately 20% to over 95%. Unlike conventional methods, SVolt's approach requires no modifications to existing production lines, ensuring seamless compatibility with current manufacturing equipment. The technology also enhances safety performance by 50% while improving production yield and consistency.
The new battery demonstrates outstanding safety, achieving 100% prevention of thermal propagation. It has successfully passed rigorous safety tests, including nail penetration, thermal exposure, crushing, and seawater immersion. SVolt has already secured a partnership agreement with a European luxury automaker for the battery. The second-generation model targets an energy density of 360 Wh/kg and has been delivered for testing in a state-owned eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) project. Future versions aim to reach 400 Wh/kg or higher to meet the demands of premium electric vehicles and emerging low-altitude mobility applications.
SVolt has outlined a clear technological roadmap: beginning with the mass production of semi-solid batteries, progressing to higher energy densities, and eventually achieving all-solid-state batteries. The company has established the world's largest dedicated production line for semi-solid batteries, with an initial capacity of 2.3 GWh. Mass production is scheduled to commence in November 2025, with volume deliveries anticipated by 2027.
This breakthrough by SVolt charts a new course for cost-effective, high-efficiency mass production in the battery industry. Through continuous innovation in materials, processes, and manufacturing capabilities, SVolt is accelerating the large-scale adoption of semi-solid batteries in high-end applications, supporting the global transition toward the solid-state battery era.
